Consideration for nature and other interests
Wind power development on SCA’s land takes into account nature, cultural heritage and local communities. In addition to the requirements arising from our certifications (FSC® and PEFC), projects are subject to extensive statutory processes under the Swedish Environmental Code.
SCA’s forestry operations are certified (FSC®004466, PEFC/05-23-131). The certifications mean that SCA follows guidelines for responsible forestry, taking into account natural values, cultural heritage, outdoor recreation and other interests.
SCA has set aside areas with high natural values from forestry operations. When land is used for other purposes, such as wind power, these values must also be taken into account. Wind power developments must also consider recreational values, the local economy and other affected interests.
Biodiversity
Our forests and lands contain many values. In addition to storing large amounts of carbon and providing sustainable raw materials and energy, they also have significant biodiversity, which we strive to preserve and enhance. The forests are home to numerous animals and plants, and we want them to continue thriving there in the future.
